As a Native Floridian,
Florida Bass Adventures Guide Steve Boyd grew up bass fishing on
World Famous Lake Toho with his Father and Grandfather learning how
to catch big Trophy bass. Today, 25 years later Steve Boyd is Lake
Toho's number one trophy bass fishing guide and Lake Toho is still
pumping out Trophy Bass. It is this experience along with it's
reputation that keeps Steve on Lake Toho year round giving clients
the opportunity to experience World Class Trophy Bass Fishing.
Located just South of Orlando Lake Toho is the first lake in the
Kissimmee Chain and is well known for it's ability to produce trophy
bass, making it a popular bass fishing destination for both
recreational and tournament anglers. Magazines such as Bassmaster,
In-Fisherman, and Bassin' rate Lake Toho as the nations best lake to
go trophy bass fishing.
The closest trophy bass fishing lake in Orlando to Disney World and
Universal Studios, Lake Toho is a favorite among vacationers looking
for the opportunity to catch big Florida bass. The other lakes in
the Kissimmee Chain include Cypress Lake, Lake Hatchineha and lake
Kissimmee. Lake Toho is the most famous of the lakes but all lakes
in the Kissimmee chain regularly produce trophy bass. Lake Toho is
also the largest of the Lakes that are close to the Orlando theme
parks averaging 18,000 acres.
The Headwaters for the Kissimmee River which leads South to Lake
Okeechobee, Lake Toho is abundant with natural Florida vegetation as
well as Hydrilla which helps provide cover for big bass. A majority
of Lake Toho is still owned by cattle ranchers so there are very few
homes on the lake allowing anglers to see Florida in it's natural
setting. Both live bait and artificial lures account for trophy bass
caught from Lake Toho but there are cetain times during the year
where one technique will be most productive. Lake Toho is a typical
Florida lake that is shallow in nature with an average depth of 6
feet. Almost all bass fishing is done in 4 feet or less in thick
vegetation using weedless lures. Top water action can be found on
any lake in Florida year round but Lake Toho bass can totally
demolish top water lures when presented properly.
In a 2001 B.A.S.S. tournament a new record for a 5 bass limit was
established when a competitor brought in 45lbs 02 oz of fish to the
scales averaging 9lbs per fish! The 4 day record was also
established in that tournament at 108lbs 04 oz. While this record
has since been broken Lake Toho secured it's place in the record
books as one of the best fisheries in the country. Because of Lake
Toho's reputation and proximity to the theme parks it is the primary
lake for Florida Bass Adventures Orlando Bass Guide Service due to it's
consistent ability to produce trophy bass. No other lake in Orlando
can match the number of trophy bass that Lake Toho produces day in
and day out.
If you are looking for the excitement of trophy bass fishing in

The Harris Chain - If you were to ask anyone where the top destination for trophy bass fishing in Orlando is The Harris Chain of Lakes would come up pretty high on their list. The Harris Chain of lakes is a waterway system that leads North to the Atlantic ocean, through the Ocklawaha River and the St. Johns River. It's made up of Lake Harris, Little Lake Harris, Lake Dora, Lake Eustis, Lake Griffin and Lake Beauclair, and includes links by the Dora Canal, the Dead River and Haines Creek.
The Harris chain is a favorite among Bassmaster Touring pros as they enjoy the best fishing when they visit during our spawning months which usually runs from December to April on the Harris Chain of Lakes. Although, live bait can be used on this chain Florida Bass Adventures Guide Steve Boyd prefers using artificial lures due to the variety of techniques an angler can employ on the Harris Chain. All guide trips on the Harris Chain require the client to be able to proficiently use baitcasting equipment as you will be fishing heavy vegetation on this chain.
The Harris Chain is located North of Orlando in Lake County and is about 35 minutes from Disney World and 30 minutes from Universal Studios.
The Butler Chain of Lakes - The Butler Chain of lakes are located in the heart of Orlando just 10 minutes North of Walt Disney World in the town of Windermere. Home to Celebrities such as Shaquille O'Neal and Tiger Woods the Butler chain is made up of a series of lakes that were formed by a typical Florida occurrence known as Karst Topography which basically means big sinkholes.
Consisting of Clear Water, deep ledges, visible and submergent vegetation the Butler Chain offers a wide variety of lure choices on light line and light tackle. Schooling bass can be found almost year round allowing for some exciting topwater strikes. Finesse techniques are great for this chain as water clarity is usually around 10 feet on a sunny day.
The best time of year to fish the Butler Chain is from September - July offering anglers the best opportunity at bass in the 3 - 8lb range. Boat traffic is at a minimum this time of year as many skiers enjoy this chain.
The Orlando area offers numerous choices for bass fishing but not all lakes can equally produce trophy bass day in and day out. The lakes on this page have been chosen due to their consistent ability to offer clients the opportunity to experience Florida Big Bass Fishing during their visit to Orlando. When you book your Orlando bass fishing trip with Florida Bass Adventures you can rest assured that you will be bass fishing on a world class fishery and not some tiny unknown lake.
