Lake Kissimmee Bass Fishing
Covering roughly 35,000 acres Lake Kissimmee is the largest of the 5 lakes that make up the Kissimmee Chain of Lakes and is the furthest South of Orlando. Lake Kissimmee has a long reputation for producing trophy bass as well as quality crappie and bluegill fishing. In 1996 Lake Kissimmee underwent an extreme drawdown and habitat enhancement project in 1996 where 24 miles of shoreline were enhanced by the removal of accumulated organic sediment and associated vegetation that was too dense to provide optimum fishing habitat. Subsequently, more beneficial native vegetation became established in enhanced areas which provided improved spawning and nursery habitat for fish.

Since the drawdown many signs of the success can be seen through tournament results most notably the 2006 Bassmaster Classic that was won by an angler fishing Lake Kissimmee exclusively for the entire 3 days of the tournament. In 2004 mother nature did her part to improve Lake Kissimmee by steering a hurricane directly over the lake again clearing out decaying plant matter on the bottom of the lake.

As the largest lake in the Kissimmee chain and the furthest from Orlando, Lake Kissimmee gets relatively light fishing pressure from anglers making it a great choice to spend a day. Just a short boat ride from Lake Kissimmee are Lake Cypress and Lake Hatchineha. Both trophy bass lakes in their own right and as they are part of the Kissimmee chain fish very similar to the more well known Lake Kissimmee and Lake Toho.

Artificial Lure Fishing - As with all Florida Lakes, trophy bass are caught year round on Lake Kissimmee using artificial lures ranging from topwater lures to diving crankbaits. A shallow lake abundant with both visible and submergent vegetation a majority of bass on Lake Kissimmee are caught using weedless type presentations in 5 feet of water or less. Our history of tournament success on Lake Kissimmee offers clients the best opportunity to learn how to catch trophy bass while on their fishing trip.

Live Bait Fishing- Using live bait is a benefit we have in Florida because the bait we use, wild shiners are native to our lakes and grow to as large as 13 inches. We use live bait year round to catch trophy bass having years of experience to be able to specialize in this type of fishing. There are different types of shiners offered by most bait shops. Domestic shiners that are raised in hatcheries and wild shiners caught from the lakes we fish. Live wild shiners are only offered for our clients as this is the only true way to fish for trophy bass in Florida. Live wild shiners are more expensive but they are a must when your goal is to catch a trophy bass while fishing Lake Kissimmee.
